How do you score apps and games?
Five criteria out of ten each — core function, ease of use, monetisation, performance, privacy — with a written justification for every one. The headline number is their average. Games substitute gameplay, controls and replay value. Full method on How We Test.
Why does every review have one low score?
Because a review where everything is excellent tells you nothing. Our editorial rule is that at least one criterion must be lower than the rest and must be explained in detail. If nothing is weak, we have not looked hard enough yet.
Do you host app files or APKs?
No. There are no installation files anywhere on this site and there never will be. The buttons on a product page open the official Google Play or App Store listing, and nothing else.
Where do the specifications come from?
Developer, version, size, price, in-app purchases, content rating and requirements come from the official store listings, and every product page shows the date we last checked them. Everything else — the review, the pros and cons, the score, the FAQ answers — comes from using the product.
Do you accept payment for reviews?
No: not for a review, not for a score, not for a position in a list, not for inclusion. No developer sees a review before it publishes and none can have one removed. The site is funded by display advertising, and ad units are labelled.
Who writes the reviews?
A named reviewer, with a role, a publication date and an updated date on every page, and a profile listing everything they have written. A review without an author does not get published.
How often are reviews updated?
Whenever a price, limit or feature changes materially, and otherwise at least every six months. The date shown is the date of the last real check.
I found something wrong. What now?
Tell us through Contact and we will fix it on the page. Where a correction changes our conclusion we say what changed and why, rather than editing quietly.
Can I submit my app for review?
Yes, free, through Contact. We read everything and cannot cover everything. A submission buys no promise about timing, coverage or score.
